VISIONS & MANDATES

Vision

The healthy development of Indigenous children and the well-being of families through a culturally rooted and holistic approach.

Mandate

The Alberta Aboriginal Head Start Association promotes, supports, and enhances Urban & Northern Indigenous Head Start programs by offering resources, information and learning opportunities that foster the growth and development of children and families within communities.

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the work of the Alberta Aboriginal Head Start Association takes place across the homelands of diverse Indigenous Nations.

These lands are home to the First Nations of Treaties 6, 7, and 8; the Métis Nation of Alberta; and many Inuit and urban Indigenous families who work, play and make their homes here.

We honour the histories, languages, and cultures of the Indigenous Peoples of Alberta, and we recognize the enduring presence and resilience of children, families, and communities who continue to shape this land today.

As an Association, we are committed to walking alongside Indigenous Peoples in a spirit of respect, reciprocity, and reconciliation, while supporting the growth and well-being of Indigenous children and families.
